Code 9 Security has amended its Articles of Association to make a legal commitment to making a material positive difference to society and the environment as a whole. This is about true sustainability, not just green credentials but all of the 17 UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
Statement on Community and Environment
Code 9 Security is committed to protecting the environment, with communities, people, the environment and the planet being deliberately incorporated within the Company’s mission of Protecting What Matters™.
Our efforts focus on sustainability and innovation, adopting and making better use of technology to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and enhance our value proposition for every stakeholder.
In 2020, Code 9 Security joined with several of its clients in declaring a climate emergency, recognising and committing to act on the very real threat posed by climate change.
Community is also at the forefront of our minds when we create and deliver our services, forming a natural part of our stakeholder obsession. We work proactively with charitable organisations, including the Scouts and Cadet Forces, and several organisations that support vulnerable groups in our communities, such as street-attached individuals, veterans and those struggling with mental health challenges.
We have made a legal commitment, enshrined in our Articles of Association, that requires our Directors to consider the environment in its decision making and commercial strategy. This also forms part of our wider commitment to becoming a Certified B Corporation.
Further, Code 9 Security is signatory to the Terra Carta and the SME Climate Hub, at the same time committing to Net Zero 2030. We are pleased to report that our environmental performance is currently industry-leading.
We take our corporate social responsibility seriously and genuinely want to be a better company tomorrow than we are today. This is an ongoing task but one that has become embedded in our culture, mission and values.
Working together to make a positive difference
Reducing Our Carbon Footprint
Over the last 5 years, we have significantly reduced our carbon footprint, tracking progress in Scope 1, 2 and 3 using Ecologi’s carbon accounting system.
Our changes have seen a complete transition in our vehicle fleet, which now comprises zero-emission electric vehicles together with hybrid and highly efficient EURO6-compliant vehicles.
Reducing and Managing Waste
By embracing technology and digital transformation, we have reduced the amount of waste we produce. At the same time, we improved recycling and reusable materials.
Our procurement processes also carefully consider our supply chain sustainability and waste generation, reliance on plastics, and prefer recyclable or reusable products.
Community Engagement
We work with and sponsor activities with a wide range of charitable organisations, together making a positive difference in the communities in which we operate.
Over the last few years, we have worked with youth movements, including the Scouts and Cadet Forces, veteran support, and vulnerable person charities, too.
Working together to make a positive difference
Code 9 Security firmly believe in accountability and transparency and therefore have partnered with Ecologi to help measure and report on our environmental performance.
Ecologi Zero is a new carbon calculator that allows Code 9 Security to measure its carbon emissions across all 3 scopes and supply chain, giving a new level of insight and understanding on our environmental impact and helping us identify how best to offset those emissions.
Using Ecologi’s online platform, all of our stakeholders can now easily see how Code 9 Security is performing, our climate positive investments, our tree planting endeavours and our environmental commitments.
